Abstract: This presentation provides an overview of Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) - the DOE Office of Environmental Management’s lab.  SRNL is an applied national lab with a legacy of supporting national security and environmental management mission areas.  The R&D focus areas of the Materials Technology and Energy Sciences Division will be described and how they connect to TRLs.  Detailed progress made on a DOE program to create ethylene from ethane using an induction heating process are presented and anticipated barriers to industrial scaleup noted. An introduction to environmental management challenges (cost/schedule) at the DOE Hanford site will be reviewed. To support mission objectives, an engineering-scale electrochemical processing skid is proposed to perform denitration of nuclear tank waste to enable direct feed processing, and the R&D program strategy will be explained. The SRNL Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative (AMC) is a new DOE facility, set to open summer of 2025, that has 60,000 sq ft of research facilities, computational labs, and industrial engineering space. The AMC will be a cornerstone capability for development of manufacturing solutions and specifically designed to lower the barrier to partnership with industry and academia, to address DOE national security and environmental management program objectives.
